Last Day...

We were seated in the hall
It was so quiet, you could hear a pin fall.
We were waiting anxiously and impatiently
For the results of our PSLE.

My principal began his speech in earnest
But all we wanted was for him to tell us the passes
We waited and waited with bated breath
For me, it was like approaching death!

“100% passes for the merged stream”,
Upon hearing that, we let out a collective scream.
We hugged each other and cried openly,
The end was finally here to set us free.

As I walked up to my classroom for one last time,
I could not help but turn back time.
I remembered the days spent in my classroom
The countless times we made my teacher fume!

We made many new friends and learnt many important lessons,
We had also received many presents,
I would never forget how my teacher scolded me,
Our class was quite naughty, one would agree

But my teacher never gave up on us,
She did her job without much fuss.
She sacrificed her own family time,
To make up on our lost time.

For this reason alone, I shall be grateful,
And always to her I shall be thankful.
Thank you Evergreen and thank you teacher,
For making me realize my dreams and shaping my future.
